Grotta Giusti - Spa & Hotel, Tuscany, Italy
Introduction
Grotta Giusti, Tuscany, Italy
An elegantly-appointed villa dating from the 19th Century, this
hotel captures the essence of true Italian hospitality. The
thermally heated caves and underground lake were discovered by
labourers working on the estate 150 years ago and since then, the
hotel has become a magnet for those looking for therapeutic cures
and rejuvenating spa treatments. The Tuscan hills provide the
perfect backdrop to this relaxing retreat and offer the opportunity
for gentle country walks. Monsummano is a good base to explore the
region as the historic cities of Florence, Pisa and Siena are only
a short drive away.
The hotel
The large outdoor swimming pool is kept constantly filled with
naturally warm thermal spring water. The thermal water is also
pumped into the marble bathrooms of the Superior Rooms so you can
enjoy the benefits of the mineral-rich waters in the luxury of your
own bedroom. Tastefully decorated, the rooms either overlook the
park at the front of the hotel or the mountain at the back. The
interior of the property has been filled with stylish furnishings
and carefully chosen antiques.
The Giusti Room, located next to the bar, is the ideal place to
relax with a drink at the end of the day. With its enchanting
frescoes, chandelier and high-backed, deep armchairs it is the
epitome of Italian style. Typical light and flavoursome Tuscan
cuisine is served in the hotel’s dining room, La Veranda, which
enjoys views over the grounds of the estate. For those watching
their weight, low calorie options are always included in the menu.
The Grotta Giusti offers a true pampering experience with high
standards of service in an inspiring location.
The Grotta and Spa
The Grotta Giusti Spa offers an impressive range of treatments from
the traditional to the more avant garde. The soothing and cleansing
steam baths located in an underground grotto form an integral part
of the spa experience. A trip to the Grotta is as fascinating as it
is therapeutic. The caves are divided into three different zones,
Paradise, Purgatory and Hell, each one becoming increasingly
hotter. Limbo, the underground lake, is made up of thermal spring
water which evaporates as steam, detoxifying the skin and inducing
a sense of wellbeing. The thermal waters of the Grotta Giusti reach
the surface at a temperature of 34-35 degrees and contain the
minerals bicarbonate, sulphate, chloride, magnesium and calcium to
soothe and rejuvenate the body.
The new 750 metre square outdoor swimming pool is fed by the
naturally warm spa water from the thermal spring. The four
whirlpool baths offer a relaxing experience and the spectacular
waterfall feature provides a natural hydrotherapy massage.
A fully trained team of dermatologists, nutritionists and other
medical experts are available to recommend a course of treatments,
whether medicinal or holistic.
Activities
The hotel offers cycle hire and excursions for those looking to
explore the spectacular Tuscan countryside. The wonderfully
preserved, hillside town of San Gimignano is very close by with its
famous medieval towers and the enchanting cities of Florence and
Siena are only a short drive away. The hotel can arrange discounted
green fees on the 18-hole Vecchia Pievaccia golf course located
just a few minutes from the hotel, set in beautiful
surroundings.
