Introduction

Solstrand Fjordhotel is situated in a
beautiful and peaceful landscape overlooking the Bjørnefjord, just
30 kilometres from Bergen, 'Gateway to the Fjords' and Norway's
second city. The hotel was built in 1896 and despite restoration
and extension, remains close to what must have been the original
character of the house and the cultural landscape at the turn of
the century - "a light, airy and picturesque wooden house".
A stroll in the hotel's gardens offers rose
scented paths, fruit gardens and benches positioned to make the
most of magnificent views over the fjord, the islands and the
mountains. There is a 9-hole golf course within walking distance
and a fully equipped spa offering body treatments, facials,
manicures and pedicures. The steam and sauna centre has a counter
balancing icy pool, swimming pool, outdoor Jacuzzi and fitness
room. Steps in the garden lead directly into the fjord itself for
those who prefer to swim in the open!
A national and international kitchen means
that all tastes are catered for, offering superb food made from
fresh local ingredients.
Solstrand's proximity to Bergen also makes it
a good centre for day excursions to the fjords including the
excursion 'Norway in a Nutshell' featuring the Flåm Mountain
Railway and the Nærøyfjord.
