tropical island setting. Kunfunadhoo Island is one of the largest
in the Maldives at 1,400 metres long and 400 metres wide and is
perfect for exploring by bicycle or by taking advantage of one of
the many jogging trails which criss-cross the island. Surrounded by
a shallow lagoon of clear, turquoise water and enclosed by a coral
reef, snorkelling and diving are extremely popular pastimes along
with the many other water sports on offer. The hotel captures the
essence of the island hideaway, with its stylish use of natural
materials, for example, wood and stone, whilst maintaining

The hotel
The island has only 65 rooms which have been
decorated to blend into the surrounding lush vegetation. The
hotel's architects have tried to create a sense of exclusivity and
individuality by designing a wide range of different styles of
accommodation, some with garden bathrooms, their own pools and a
beachside location. Thick white-washed walls and thatched roofs
ensure that all the accommodation fuses with its surroundings. The
interiors are spacious and decorated with chic simplicity using
wooden floors and beamed ceilings as well as rustically stylish
chairs and tables. Dramatic lighting and candles illuminate the
resort at night to produce an incredibly romantic setting for a
walk along the beach or a meal under the stars.
Dining at Soneva Fushi is a culinary blend of
east meets west. The hotel employs a host of international chefs
who have created an adventurous menu offering a wide choice of
dishes to appeal to all tastes. A buffet lunch can be enjoyed on
the beach while dinner can take place in the Me Dhuniye Restaurant,
in your villa or on a sandbank, served by your own private chef and
