Lawrence's Arabia – Tour Jerash and Petra, Jordan

Introduction

This nine day tour of Jordan visits not only the famous and spectacular sights of Jerash and Petra, but also smaller and less frequented places, such as the church of St George at Madaba, whose mosaics are amongst the finest of the Byzantine world. Jordan is primarily a country of desert, and to experience this 'other world' we use 4WD vehicles to cross the rugged desert route through the dramatic landscapes of Wadi Rum. Then touching on the nomadic lifestyles we camp for a night in bedouin style tents under starry skies. The beauty and romance of the wilderness can be heightened by reading the words of T E Lawrence’s ‘Seven Pillars of Wisdom’.
