Personalised Guided Tours - Luna Hotel Baglioni - Venice

Introduction

The best way to get to know the many layers of Venice is by taking a guided tour of the city, personalised to your own interests. English-speaking guides are selected for their expertise in a given area and are booked in advance. Tours are on foot and last for two to three hours. Tours include Hidden Venice, with visits to the fondamenta in the Cannareggio sestiere to include the Jewish Ghetto, the church of the Madonna dell’Orti with paintings by Tintoretto and Tintoretto’s house; The Querini Stampalia Museum, former dwelling-place of the aristocratic Querini family, with works ranging from the 14th to the 18th centuries and Carlo Scarpa’s garden; and 19th century Venice, revisiting places and memories of the period between 1797 and 1866 after the fall of the ‘Most Serene’ Republic.

The hotel

This popular 5-star hotel enjoys a splendid location a few yards from the western edge of St Mark's Square and about one hundred yards to the lagoon at the mouth of the Grand Canal. From the landing stage at St Mark's where the waterbus from the airport arrives, the hotel can be reached on foot in less than five minutes. The hotel has its own landing stage for private water taxis.

On the site of what has been a hotel since the Middle Ages, the present building has been refurbished elegantly both inside and outside. As you enter the hotel, the marble floors and wall panelling as well as the galleried, air-conditioned reception area create a feeling of calm, space and coolness. As you move upstairs the marbled flooring gives way to plush carpets that extend to all the bedrooms. The bedrooms vary in size but are all a good size with larger ones being exceptionally spacious. However, they are all consistent in their level of quality furnishing, elegant and tasteful decoration and general comfort. The bathrooms are equipped with hairdryer, shaving mirror, telephone and extras such as sewing kits. Non-smoking bedrooms are available on request.

Breakfast can be enjoyed as an American-style buffet in the grand, 18th century breakfast room or continental-style in your room. The hotel can provide cots for babies. An ecological plus point for the Luna Baglioni is that it is able to treat its own waste before it enters the canal system.

When you enquire, we will arrange the guided tours and the type of room you prefer.
