Introduction
A charming masseria hotel that combines a
perfect balance of modernity and rustic simplicity, this
fascinating property has been many things in its 500-year history:
a farm, a fortified lookout across the Adriatic, a refuge for
pilgrims and knights and now a luxury hotel. Located just outside
of the town of Savelletri, about a five-minute drive from the sea
and a ten-minute drive to the town of Fasano, the Masseria Torre
Coccaro is a strikingly attractive hotel in the heart of the
countryside. Set within an orchard of ancient olive and fig trees
and a number of old masserie, the landscape is particularly
beautiful. The hotel has the perfect balance of modernity and
rustic simplicity. The grounds are quite unique and there is plenty
to explore. The hotel uses the large garden to grow their own
vegetables and these are used in the dishes served at the
restaurant.
The hotel
Cuisine here is very much Pugliese, with fish,
pasta and fresh vegetables featuring predominantly on the menu. The
real focal point of this property is the original masseria,
excellent work has been carried out to restore it. The building
that houses the majority of bedrooms is very new, yet it blends in
perfectly with its surroundings. Bedrooms are very spacious, just
as imaginative as they are comfortable, and again reflect the
original style of the masseria, most have their own private terrace
and a garden overlooking olive trees. Central to the masseria is a
vast, elegant outdoor pool and Jacuzzi, shaded by olive trees.
Three restaurants, one in the stable, another under a pergola and a
third by the pool, serve food from the sea or from the farm. To
work off the exceptional Pugliese cuisine, guests look no further
than the Aveda Spa and state-of-the-art gymnasium. The Masseria
Torre Coccaro superbly captures the character of an old masseria
but remains a comfortable, top quality hotel.
