Trekking Patagonia Torres del Paine

Introduction

This trekking adventure in the southern Patagonian Andes of Chile takes us into one of the natural wonders of South America: The Torres Del Paine National Park. We start at the southern Chilean city of Puerto Natales and from here we cross the Patagonian plains and into this vast and beautiful wilderness area.

The mountain massif is encircled by a glacial hydrological system linking numerous opaque, silica-rich lakes of various hues of blue. Our days in Torres del Paine take us up to the vertical Torres, into the spectacular French valley, and to the spectacular iceberg-filled Grey Lake.

We begin our trek through Torres del Paine national park with close up views of the soaring granite towers that give the park its name. Our days ahead include stops at Lake Pehoe and the beautiful French Valley.

Condors, rheas and guanacos can be seen in the area. A wonder of natural sculpture, the two thousand metre high Cuernos (Horns) and Torres (Towers) must be seen to be believed.

Given suitable weather conditions, we trek on the vast Grey Glacier.
