Description

A week of daywalks amongst the famous vineyards, historic towns and picturesque villages of Burgundy

The majestic region of Burgundy lies in central France midway between the plains of the north and the Rhone valley to the south. It is of course most famous for its gastronomic flair and wine production, with the vineyards and winemaking tradition an important aspect of the local heritage. Alongside these delights there is plenty more to tempt visitors, and the rolling hills and forests of beech and oak offer a wealth of potential for walkers. Burgundy's greatest period was during the 15th century, and ancient abbeys, impressive chateaux and pretty villages are scattered throughout the countryside, offering delightful scenery throughout the week. Highlights include a guided visit to the ancient Chateau Commarin and wine tasting in Meursault.
