Introduction
Lucca, ideal for Tuscan cooking holidays, is charming - enclosed
by it's own walls which have now been turned into an elegant 12 m
high garden, perfect for a passeggiata. Almost completely
closed off to traffic, the city centre has a cosmopolitan air, the
cobbled streets are ideal to stroll around and window shop, you
just need to watch out for the locals (Lucchese) on their bicycles
(usually with a mobile phone to their ear!).
Lucca is surrounded by the Apuan Alps, dramatic backdrop of
rolling countryside, vineyards, rivers and charming towns such as
the spa town Bagni di Lucca, as well as must see towns of Barga and
Garfagnana.
The Venue
The Forci Estate is the perfect location for our Tuscany cookery
holidays lying amid vineyards and olive groves, steeped in strong
culinary traditions of wine and olive production.
We have exclusive use of the private Villa Segelato tucked away
on the estate high in the hills above Lucca. Guests will be able to
sit on the terrace and enjoy views across the charming valley,
dotted with ancient bell towers, olive groves and "modern" 18th
century villas.
Our guests will stay in Villa Segelato is a classic Tuscan villa
with terracotta tiles, wooden beams, a large kitchen, impressive
formal lounge and six en-suite bedrooms. Outside the terrace has
spectacular views down the valley and the swimming pool is perfect
for an early morning swim.
