Painting Holiday in Africa - Art Safari, Malawi

Introduction

After summer rains the views and countryside are incredible. Dramatic mountains rise from lush green plains. Sleek animals graze contentedly. Liwonde National Park, Thyolo Tea Estates near Mount Mulanje, Zomba Mountain and an idyllic tropical island on Lake Malawi form the backdrop for a focus on landscape painting.

This is a slow pace safari at a stunning time of year, cool by night and sunny altitudes by day, with views to die for. We stay in simple as well as honeymoon destinations with all the romance of the bush.

Art Tuition by Mary-Anne Bartlett
Mary-Anne is an accomplished artist, experienced in painting and drawing in Africa.  As groups are small there is a lot of one-to-one tuition as well as exercises and suggested subjects and time to develop your personal styles and your technique.  You will work mainly in graphite and water-colour.

She welcomes artists of all standards – and non-painting partners who just want to enjoy the peace of it all!  Non-painters benefit from the attention of the safari guide for in depth animal or bird watching while others are painting.

In her art tuition on safari she has three principal aims: -
1. To give you an opportunity to draw and paint in environments which enrich your appreciation of the natural world.

2. To encourage you to paint from nature and to give you the vision and artistic skills to be able to make fast impressions of moving animals.

3. To provide you with a varied programme to stimulate you, give you opportunity to discuss your work with fellow artists and to inspire you to continue painting nature in your own time.
