Polar Bear Wildlife Photography Holiday
Introduction
Join our award-winning photographer guides on this Far North photo
expedition
Churchill is a pilgrimage for wildlife
photographers, both professionals and avid amateurs. This custom
photography expedition is designed to provide the very best
opoortunities available to take rare polar bear photos.
From the Great White Bear Tundra Lodge,
situated outside Churchill on the tundra itself, we can take polar
bear photos from our unique “hotel.” With exclusive use of this
facility, there’s plenty of room for gear and for shooting.
A vehicle on site provides daily excursions
around the tundra. Our most accomplished photography leaders
guide this exceptional adventure travel opportunity, drawing on
their extensive experience in the region to offer photography tips
for getting that once-in-a-lifetime shot.

“There’s a mother with a cub,” our chef
announced as we conversed around the dinner table. Silverware
flying, we scrambled through the kitchen to the outside viewing
platform. Sure enough, a mother polar bear and her cub cautiously
pawed through the snowdrifts just feet from our tundra lodge.
Together they sniffed the air, checked out the tires, and settled
on some nearby rocks. She must be a good mother since she avoided
the daylight hours when male bears tend to look at cubs as a food
source.
The cub sauntered over and rose to his hind
legs, just inches beneath us and clearly visible through the
metal-grate flooring of the platform. He lifted his nose in the
air, probably deciding if we were edible. My hands were numb, and
my nose was dripping. I considered grabbing my camera, but
sometimes the best travel memories are preserved by being in the
moment rather than on film.
