Husky Lodge - Winter Adventure Holiday
Introduction
Engholm's Husky Lodge is situated next to Karasjohka river, 6
kms outside of Karasjok in Finnmark, Norway's Lapland.
The lodge itself consists of a random selection of cosy log
cabins, all hand built by Sven Engholm himself with their own
individual charm and atmosphere. Interior furnishings are rustic
with wooden furniture, colourful rugs and an open fireplace and are
very well suited to those who want the original 'log cabin'
experience.
There is a 'dog musher' library, a wood heated sauna and
relaxation room and the 'Barta' is a special turf covered log house
for get-togethers around an open fire, sitting on reindeer furs and
dining on local arctic produce.
The lodge is also home to 40-50 highly trained sled dogs for
long distance racing and tours. Sven is an 11 time winner of
Europe's longest sled dog race, the Finnmarksløpet, at 1000 kms. He
has also led expeditions to Spitsbergen, Greenland and Siberia! His
husky tours are ideal winter holidays for those who love wild,
unspoilt places, have a sense of adventure and who relish the
chance to learn something new.
